1- Enroll in a local or regional directory in your niche. You simply have to search for free directories and you will be able to find a list of these. There are a lot that are going to be free but you will find some that want a small amount of cash in exchange for backlinks. You can pick and choose.

2- If you make press releases or announcements make sure that you put links to your site and pages in the press releases.

3- Share in local internet marketing. Find local businesses or friends that are willing to exchange links with you.

4- Bookmark your site on sites like digg.com or delicious.com.

5- Do not sign up for paid links without knowing what you are doing.
